"Here Once I Stood"

This weathered stump seemed to be a portrait of Time. The painting was actually finished once, but the foreground did not stand out from the background as intended. A glaze was added to darken most of the background, letting the stump "pop", giving it its rightful place as the focal point of the painting.  Watercolor. Framed to 11" x 14".  $350

"Willy Wagtail at Lough Gur"

On a sunny day next to Lough Gur in Ireland, this sprightly fellow entertained us, hopping cheerfully atop a stone wall. He seemed to want me to paint his portrait.  SOLD

Above all, this is a study of rippling water and reflection. The boatman and his craft are secondary to the sense of light and movement in the water.  Watercolor.  $250

"Lord of the Barnyard"

This regal rooster was spotted in Ireland. The painting began as a demonstration of egg tempera in a watercolor class I taught at the Buchanan Art Center. The addition of egg yoke to the pigment gives this a very different look from my usual watercolors.  SOLD

"House in the North Country"

A sun-dappled scene from Ireland. In looking at this finished painting, I can almost smell the scent of the turf fire in the smoke rising from the chimney. In my painting, I try to create realistic views that give one the feeling that the viewer could step into the scene.  SOLD
